HISTORY / VISION
It quickly became clear that Gerold's former parental home was too big for just two people, and thus the idea was born to "open" the house and use it in a more multifaceted way. Now, the time has come, and as a first step, we want to offer guest rooms and welcome people to stay with us.
Several years ago, we began transforming the house step by step, reducing what was there, rethinking it, and designing it according to our ideas of living and life.
Wallpaper was removed, tiles were painted, old items were given away or redesigned. Up-cycling and the joy of finds from bulky waste and flea markets. A slow growth and development.
The house has a history. The former “Kellerstüberl” – where people once danced and celebrated to twist and rock 'n' roll – now serves with its old bar as a communal and breakfast room.
Now the record player plays music from MiraLu Kovacs, Roisin Murphy or Nessie Gomes. An old office has become a guest room, and the lawn is gradually turning into a nature-friendly garden.
Our vision lies in a place of creativity, a possibility for encounters, retreat, inspiration, and silence. A place that is in a constant state of development and transformation.
REGION
The house is situated on a hill on the outskirts of Raabs an der Thaya. Walks in the surrounding forests, along field paths or the Thaya river can be started directly from the house. The "Thayarunde" cycling path (www.thayarunde.eu) can be reached in 5 minutes by bike or in 10 minutes on foot. In town, there is the Thayatal-Vitalbad (www.thayatal-vitalbad.at) with heated swimming pools and an exceptional sauna landscape. At the main square, which is a 5-minute walk away, there are, among other things, inns, a supermarket, newsagents, a pharmacy, a café, etc.
